It’s no secret that many children do not get enough daily physical activity. A reduction in physical education classes, shorter recess times, a lack of supervised indoor/outdoor play areas, and busy family schedules can all contribute to the problem. Even children who are very active during the warmer months, may find themselves engaging in far more sedentary activities during the winter. REACH Fitness, a local nonprofit organization, is taking action to help every child find ways to enjoy a more active lifestyle. We are pleased to offer CIRCUIT TRAINING FOR KIDS, an innovative way to increase kids’ fitness levels while they are busy having fun! Participants will move between different exercise stations, spending only a few minutes at each station before switching activities. Stations will be changed frequently, so that there is always something new to try. Working in short, varied intervals will allow for maximal fitness gains without boredom! This program is designed so that children of all ages and fitness levels can work out side by side, each working at their own appropriate intensity and pace. Local athlete/mentors will be on hand to offer their guidance and encouragement, and to ensure that every child feels respected and successful. Each class will include basic strengthening, cardiovascular, flexibility and balance activities to help develop overall fitness and coordination. Class sizes will be kept small to ensure that our staff has the opportunity to interact with every young person, answer questions, and provide a safe, enjoyable experience. This program is appropriate for ages 7-12. Classes will be held once per week, for 6 weeks. Cost is $30. Two
separate sessions will be held in order to accommodate busy family schedules.
